Dear Rally Friends,
Today we publish “Tulpenrallye aan tafel #6”. It is the regular broadcast in which Werner Budding speaks with a number of guests. This time the Tulpenrallye is hosted by sponsor BOTT bedrijfswageninrichting, part of the Van Spijk Groep (VSA) from Oirschot NL. Besides an update by Frank Pauli and Kees van Loon on the Tulpenrallye, Robert van Spijk from VSA and Frans van Diepeningen from BOTT will also be interviewed.
The prospects for the 68th Tulpenrallye are good, especially due to the reduction of the corona measures in Europe. The starting field is almost full, with a limited number of places still open. The preparations are on schedule and almost all volunteer positions have been filled.
We are proud to introduce a new partner of the Tulpenrallye in this Newsletter. Besides the already familiar partners Vredestein, State of Art and Detron, Hiscox will be the fourth partner. Hiscox is an insurance company in the higher market segment. It works exclusively with insurance brokers. Starting today, Hiscox will provide a column in our periodic newsletters that they have edited themselves.
The Organizing Committee is looking forward to the forthcoming Tulpenrallye and to meeting all participants, sponsors/partners and volunteers during the conformity check and the rally starting on 8 May 2022!

Transport Logicx to Frankfurt
Our sponsor Logicx has again made 40 places available on its trucks. From the various depots spread throughout the Netherlands a car will be brought to the start. The price is € 325 per car. Do not take the risk of dropping out during the outward journey and travel to Frankfurt by plane or train. If you want to use this service, please send an email to rallyoffice@tulpenrallye.nl with subject “Transport Logicx”.
Logicx will also be present during the rally for stranded vehicles. Repatriation of a car during the rally costs € 325. Often participants are insured for repatriation. It is useful to check in advance how this is arranged for in your situation. Repatriation can be arranged through your breakdown company, travel insurance or sometimes your car insurance. The car will then be brought to a Dutch address of your choice. Logicx also has a rental car available for some dropouts. Of course, costs will be charged for this.

Rally course with practice ride at Autotron
Tulpenrallye planners Jan and Erwin Berkhof have again set up a rally course and made a Tulpenrallye practice ride especially for the 68th edition of the Tulpenrallye. This will take place on Saturday April 16 th, 2022. Saturday morning Jan and Erwin Berkhof will give the rally course in one of the rooms of the Autotron in Rosmalen. After lunch, the participants will drive the Tulpenrallye practice ride as a training. The start and finish of this practice ride will be at the Autotron.
After the reception with coffee between 09:30 and 10:00 at the Autotron, the rally course will be given from 10:00 to 12:00. O’clock. Amongst other things this will cover:
- the equipment of the rally car
- The materials for the navigator
- The division of tasks within the team
- Communication between driver and navigator
- The different types and scales of maps
- the systems which will be used in the Tulpenrallye 2022
- the special regulations of the Tulpenrallye 2022
- a number of general tips and advices
- a so-called dry run (including explanation)
After lunch the Tulpenrallye practice ride will start (starting at 13:00 o’clock). At this ride there will be two levels of difficulty, one for beginners and one for more advanced riders. Along the route, (un)manned route/time controls are placed. The finish is at approximately 15:15h, after which the rally car will be presented for the technical inspection and the document check (only Dutch equipes!).
The organization of this rally course and practice drive is in the hands of the Historic Rally Organization (HRO). The costs for the course, the lunch and the practice ride amount to € 150,00 including VAT. Registration for this rally course/training can be done via: info@historicrally.org.

Changes in the Result Centre
As announced in the previous Newsletter, Frans van der Vliet has retired after quite a few years to make time for other hobbies. We have now found a new Head of the Results Centre.
A good momentum for us to take the next step in digitalization. The working method will be adjusted on several points so that the processing of the results is even more automated. The familiar route controls and marshals along the route will remain! However, the participants will be asked to enter the route controls on the control card in an app after each stage. The participant will receive the number of mistakes made immediately after entering them. Of course, this is a preliminary assessment. The Results Centre compares the paper control card with what has been entered in the app. The regulations will be adjusted to this new method. This adjustment will also include a regulation for digital tampering on the card and will take account of unintentional errors resulting from retyping. Writing down stamp 6 as a 9 is an example of this. Ultimately, this digitization is a future-proof solution and ensures the faster availability of results. |

Practice ride Sunday 8 May in Frankfurt
After the successful “Tour des Chateaux des Tulipes” in 2021, a practice ride will be organized from Headquarter on Sunday 8 May 2022. Please take this into account when planning your trip. This practice ride will start between 12.00 and 15.00 o’clock. In one of the next Newsletters there will be a further announcement and a registration link.
