Dear Rally Friends,

Just five weeks ago we were at the finish line of the 67th Tulpenrallye. Today we invite you to the 68th Tulpenrallye. With this coming event we will add a new chapter to the long Tulpenrallye history. The 68th Tulpenrallye will start on Monday morning, May 9th, 2022, near Frankfurt in Germany. After an overnight stay in Karlsruhe, the rally then continues in France. Of course we will also visit Luxembourg and Belgium in this edition.

As organizing committee we are convinced that our Routechefs Jan and Erwin Berkhof have set up a great route again. The largest part of the route has been explored in recent weeks by four committee members, they came back very enthusiastic. The coming months we will keep everyone informed about the progress and latest news through the videos “Tulpenrallye aan tafel” and the Newsletter.

In “Tulpenrallye aan tafel #5” we look back on the 67th Tulpenrallye with two enthusiastic participants. Jan Berkhof even takes us to the rally of 2022!

We are very motivated to organize the 2022 edition of the Tulpenrallye for you and look forward to your registration!

Kind regards,
Organizing Committee 67th Tulpenrallye

Tulpenrallye aan tafel #5
Werner Budding talks to two participants from the last Tulpenrallye: Jeff Senden and Wim van Lieshout. Both gentlemen drove with their son. They talk about their experiences in the last edition. Especially the area covered in the first days was surprising. France with great roads and beautiful landscapes. But also so empty, so little traffic and barely inhabited. Both gentlemen enjoyed it enormously and are already looking forward to the next edition.

Kees van Loon, Jan Berkhof and Willem van Leeuwen talk to each other about the 68th Tulpenrallye of which the official part starts on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Frankfurt is a new starting location for the Historic Tulpenrallye. Jan and Willem give a small insight into the planned route to the finish location Valkenburg.

Invitation to registrate for the 68th Tulpenrallye

As usual, registration for the 68th Tulpenrallye is possible only by invitation. Please see this email as your invitation. Registration will open on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. and will close (if there are enough registrations) on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. There is no rush to register, take your time! This will allow for correct entries and the possibility to add the current photos. If there are too many entries, a draw will be made regardless of the date and time of your entry. The provisional list of participants will be put online no later than December 11 at 20:00.

The draft regulations and the link to registrate can be found on the Tulpenrallye website.  Directly accessible through this LINK.

Vintage class is replaced by a new class: Veterans

We repeat here the message from the previous Newsletter about the Veterans class. This new class runs routes with a calmer schedule and routes that are also suitable for Vintage cars. In this class the “Coupe de Veterans” can be won. The classification for Vintage cars will remain. This will consist of the participants with a Vintage car regardless of the class in which they participate.

The Veterans class is age-independent and primarily intended for competitors who are beginning to find the other competition classes too demanding. New crews with little experience are advised to start in the Touring class. We compare the Veterans class to former elite athletes who step back a notch but are still very good at their sport.

Route of the 68th Tulpenrallye

For the first time after many years, the Tulpenrallye will stay in one location for two nights. The area around Horbourg-Wihr (Colmar) gives a lot of rally possibilities of that we will use this edition.

The HQ-locations are not that far apart. There is plenty of room to challenge the Sporting and Expert even further with additional loops and tricky structures. For the new Veterans and the Touring, the pace can be a bit slower. The structure of this rally is different from the 67th Tulpenrallye, which was experienced as very successful. Germany has a different road network than France and is more densely populated. Both Routechefs and our new Clerck of the course Willem van Leeuwen are confident that the two German days will be more than challenging.

Tulpenrallye Watch and Explanation Cards

Questions have come in about the Revolo Tulpenrallye watch and the Explanation Cards belonging to the past Tulpenrallye. Both are being worked on at the moment. An exact delivery date is not available at this moment. Sorry for that.
